About the event
A designathon is basically like a hackathon but for "CADing" instead of coding.
It's a 36 hours non-stop team competition where students can apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems given by industry partners using design-thinking, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D Printing. This competition also provides networking and design feedback opportunities to students.
Open to anyone beginner or expert in university or high school FREE of charge. Checkout the national design league and other designathons across the nation: https://www.nationaldesignleague.com/
Psst...did I mention snacks and HUGE prizes like six 3D printers valued at $270?!?
we would like to remind you that this event will be held IN PERSON in the UBC Campus in Vancouver @LIFE building Room 2201. If you are not going to be in the region during the time of the competition, please consider competing in other design league's online designathons (for example, McMaster's online designathon which is taking place on Jan 29-31).
If we are unable to hold the event in person, due to new restrictions, we will hold the designathon ONLINE at the same time.
Note that if you are a high school student or not a student, you must email us a description of your skill level at email@example.com to be approved for competing! You may only compete as a young adult if you do not do CAD, engineering, architecture, or mechanical design, professionally; priority will be given to students. You may include photos of your past designs.
